What is the most scary thing that can happen in a ministry? It's where we only provide helpful principles and practical ways to a righteous life without the devotion to God. What I am trying to say is that if we are not careful we can end up doing ministry proving our effectiveness and being occupied by the activities and neglect the one thing that is most important - Our devotion to God. SOmetime even when we attend prayer meetings, devotional time together, they are like another activity we engage in and we don't find God in these things we engage ourselves in. Yes we are told to be faithful, but not without devotion. We mustn't separate our devotion and our service to God. Our faithfulness is the result of our devotion to Him, not something we do to prove that we are devoted, if you know what I mean. Many time we measure our devotion by how faithful we are and therefore we focus on doing and doing and doing, but rather we should be faithful because we are devoted to God. How to know the differences? It is when we do and don't testify God, it is when we carry out and don't experience God in the process, It is where we don't talk about him, when we don't go to him in prayer, when we find pretend to give thanks but deep inside we know it is the hard work we put in and somehow deserve the praise. I ask God for His forgiveness, that sometime I found myself being like that, serving with only my capability and ability so much so that I forgot that it is God who is at work in and through everything. I must keep reminding myself that it is my devotion that translate into faithfulness, not my faithfulness determine my devotion.
